In your home, the buddha figure or representations of his body, speech and mind should be placed in a position of honor. Preferably in a clean and neat place with veneration and respect. It should not be at your feet. It should not be surrounded with clutter.

Ideally the head of the Buddha should be higher then your own head. It should certainly not be on the ground.
