also this girl is one of my friends ive known her for almost 2 years but were not to close

Do not listen to other people who tell you to go and ask who she likes better. That is an absolute no no.
Approach her as if the other guy doesn't exist. Think about it this way- he is irrelevant to the relationship with you and her.
Go for her immediately. I agree with the people telling you to be strong. But be cool as well. Be relaxed and don't over do things.
You have to win her over; steal her away. Maybe she thinks the other guy is a stud. But if they haven't talked much that is pretty shallow.
Get into her head. You know what I would start talking to her. I would be subtle though- give her easy opportunities to do things with you-- you know have a coffee when youre both near the coffee shop....you see where I am going. If you confront her with "wanna go out to dinner" and she doesnt know you its harder for her to say yes.
But get in there and fight, approach her, show her you are a good guy

Hmm, first of all make sure you stop and make sure this girl really likes this other guy you mention. If she does, and you know it's serious, it's probably best to wait.. or maybe forget about it. [depends if the other guy likes her too, then they'll most likely end up together?]. If you're not sure, and you really like her though, go for it, and tell her. You won't know unless you try, so just tell her how you feel, even if she says NO, or she just wants to be friends, then at least you won't sleep with the doubt

This is probably one of the harder decisions you'll make in your relationship career. Girls might "like some other guy", but it doesn't necessarily mean they are closed to other options.
Go up to her and explain how you feel (assuming she is your friend). This is easy to write down, and easy (maybe) for you to imagine yourself doing, but when it comes to crunch time, this will be really hard for you. You can wait for an "opportune moment", but trust me, that moment will come and go and you won't even know.
The worst she can do is reject you. She won't hate you for asking, and it's doubtful that she'll make fun of you, unless she really dislikes you (which if she does you shouldn't be doing this anyway..). If anything, she'll have more respect for you assuming you are rejected.
Your chances of her saying yes are pretty high, especially if she only "likes this other guy".

How will you know if she wants to go out with you if you dont ask her.

Mind your own business!
Just be yourself, sooner or later she will like you.
Dont wait because if you will, you will regret it if she's waiting for you to ask her out!

just go up to her and start talking to her then alittle it to small talk ask her if she is seeing anyone or really likes anyone. then ask if the one she like is seeing anyone if she asks way just tell her u want to take her to the movies or out to dinner but u don't want to come between her and her maybe crush. that how me and my man got together.

You should find a way to figure out if she likes another guy or if she likes you. If you cant find a way to figure that out then just ask her out.

confront her and ask her who she likes be careful of asking her out because she might not be into and she probably doesn't want to reject you thats uncool. if she likes you she won't tell you but if she likes someone else then you'll know and won't have to be rejected.
