if you have windows updates on then you should get the "windows genuine advantage validation tool" as part of the monthly updates that you get..alternatively you could go to www.microsoft .com and type the above mentioned tool into the search bar at top right of page.i just did it and it automatically checked my copy (which i know is valid). it took about 2 seconds to check it..

If you try to download Windows Media Player 11, it will do it for you - and if it doesn't validate it won't work.
You can then revert back to windows media player 10, by Add/Remove programs.

You should have a validation code you need to enter it when it asks you to register.
If your having problems it can also be done ove the phone very quickly.

after windows is installed you have a certain time frame to get on the net and verify the product or else it wil stop booting after that into windows. you may have to call in if this product has already been verified before.

Click on the swirly activation tool either in your start menu or down there on the right. It will give you options for activation.
