buckeye, you are filled with too many stereotypes. for one, i am a christian and i look down upon NO ONE. also, i do not enforce by beliefs on NO ONE and i do not think that i am better than ANYONE... other than a few idiots at school but that's a different story.
And you must come to realize that the Christian faith is a belief in spreading the gospel. It's like a business. The more you convert, the more commission you will get from God. You gotta at least respect them for that, just as I respect the fact that you asked a good question (to a certain extent).
Do you get angry at people trying to make a living? In general, you would probably say no, now think about it. Christians that try to spread the gospel (and I am not talking about the limited few who are lunatic fundamentals who force their beliefs upon others) are doing that for a living.
With that said, human's are a stupid people overall and that is why world peace will always be impossible!

Jesus said to treat others as you would like to be treated. If Christians look down on people, they obviously want to be looked down upon. Jesus doesn't have a very big speaking part in the Bible, so it's really not that hard to remember what he said. And when Jesus says to love your neighbors and your enemies more, Christians must know he obviously meant to condemn to hell all with tatoos and piercings. Christ is too busy talking about love, peace and inner beauty for today's Christians to take seriously. They want action, so they quote 3000 year old laws that Jesus himself condemned and a man in the New Testement who used to make a living killing people. And since Christian are always right, Paul must be important than Jesus becuase he's the only one they quote. If they quoted Jesus they would have to believe in forgiveness and tolerance and how could they feel better about themselves by knocking you down if they did that?
Christianity is very similar to Islam. Both are loving and peaceful, but too many of their believers suck

We are all regular people. No one has the right to look down on another person, especially not Christians. We are specifically told in the Bible not to.

as a christian, I try to promote equality. Some christians think like that because of the promise of salvation by GOd which we have but it is wrong to rub it in your faces. Sorry bout that.
some christians feel they have tapped into this deeper knowledge (well they have in a way) then start preaching like so to hve people "repent". the thing is like many people, all around, most have forgotten about love.
Our God is of love yet they see only the wrath he can bring upon people, it is love that draws people to each other and one day i hope many of my fellow Christians realize that. :)

that is an illusion by those that don't believe or follow religion.
we are not preaching down to you, we are not speaking down to you, we are (least they should be) just trying to tell you information.
When I was an atheist I use to think anyone who mentioned the bible or religion was automatically pushing it on me.
But that's just a topic of discussion. No different than talking about cars or going fishing. They weren't trying to make me buy a car or a boat, were they?
I use to not believe, I believe today. I don't look down on anyone, for I am a human and I breath...and from what I can tell, all those around me are the same species. Now if an alien is among us....I might look down on him. Cause if he is so smart to fly here...why is he hiding from us.

It's a sickness of it's own called spiritual pride born of arrogance and ignorance. Unfortunately, some so called "Christians" don't believe in practicing unconditional love. As far as cat sex goes, don't knock it till you've tried it. JUST KIDDING.

i do think that you are right in the fact that if you are not strongly involved in some religion and profess the belief of it, then people think less of you. Or at least less of your opinion. I try not to worry about it as it is my choice not to believe in religion. And I also think that those that have a religion are not necessarily the best of people. Some of the religious followers fill our jails with all sorts of crimes. So they are no better.

I have to agree with Adia Arek, I am tired of Christians making assumption about my religion too.
Personally, I have no problems with Atheists or Agnostics, in fact I have more Atheists as friends than any other group.

Its an oxymoron. The mere fact that someone looks down upon other people makes them a bad Christian/Muslim/Jew. Its **good actions** that makes one better cause s/he fears that all creations have the right to be respected.
