According to the National Kidney Foundation, 5-7 million kids across the country wet the bed. First and foremost it is important for adults and children to know that about 97% of children who wet have a problem called "pediatric nocturnal enuresis". It is not a psychological problem and there are a number of ways for children to be successfully treated.

Many doctors will tell you that "your child will grow out of it." This is true. The important question is when and at what cost to your child's self-esteem. Keep in mind that between 3-5% of teenagers have never been dry at night.

Try this web-site. It also offers childrens books on the subject.
P.s. NEVER punish a child for bed-wetting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although bed-wetting in children over 6 is rare, it does happen. Often it is a familial occurrence. Nocturnal enuresis has nothing to do with staying dry during the day. Alarms are helpful to train the body to wake when the child needs to pee. Some children respond well to nasal meds.

My son, I believe, sleeps so soundly that he just doesn't wake to go to the loo and doesn't often wake once he is wet in his bed. He often tells me that he dreams he went to the loo.

The best thing you can do is remain calm....getting angry will make it worse. Even if I discuss it with my son he wets the bed. Do not raise the subject with him...just change him and the bed but talk about something else!!

I walk my son to the toilet at about 11pm which does help.

Good luck!!!

Some children do because there is stress at home, like abuse, or parents fighting. Sometimes it is a medical condition that can be treated. Sometimes a child sleeps so soundly that the feeling of a full bladder doesn't wake them up.

Previous answers are all pretty good, but it also can be that the child sleeps too soundly, so the message does not get through to the brain. At least that is what a doctor told me about my child.

Because children don't come from molds and they are not all alike. The are not a part of a "collective". They all grow and develop at different rates.

Could be small bladder, sleeps so deeply that his brain doesn't wake him, afraid of the dark and no night light to get them to the bathroom, it all depends.
