anyone know any freeware DVD ripper, and what site you can get it from?
i need a ripper that can turn DVD into any smaller video format, would be better if to mpeg.

Uhh, there are free dvd rippers out there... and not full of viruses, but it is always good to check. try finding DVD shrink. this program takes the DVD and decrypts it, some newer DVD's are encoded different so some will not work. DVD shrink makes an ISO image file out of the DVD. Grab that here...

this mounts the image so your computer reads the ISO file as a DVD, no harm done and you can mount up to four images at one time, play around with it. Now i use DVD decrypter to burn my ISO image files, it can decrypt, but i personally think that it is good at burning and let shrink do the hard work. get that here...

now, for those movies that can not be decrtypted by these softwares, because they are a bit old yet there free were so w/e, i use an Ipod video converter, works like a charm, it doesnt copy the menus or anything but the movie, but i just through that file that i converted into a dvd software that came with my computer, works out just fine.

There are no "free" dvd rippers most that are free have virus or free ware in them i was looking just like you, until i forced to buy a great one from clonedvd its not cheap but works great with all formats including i pod,psp,mpeg4
