These days you can do just about anything to almost any vehicle. To answer your question, It depends on the engine you want to place in your vehicle. There is so much work to be done if the engine is compatible. Among so many other things, You must change the motor mount positions, Exhaust might have to be rerouted, and to find a trans. that is also compatable is tricky too, There is only so much space and im sure money to be spent on such a task.
The people of Tokyo Drift have very deep pockets to get any of this done. Do your home work and research everything you want to go into this vehicle, and im sure youll come out with what you've been looking for. good day.

Pretty much anything that'll fit, if you're willing to put enough money or craft passion into it. If you're dealing with a modern electronic engine, you'll need a basic understanding of DC electronics, and you'll need more bits off the donor car than you could possibly imagine.
Obviously if it's a RWD car, you'll want to use an RWD engine/tranny set. (you can put an engine with a tranny it didn't come with, but it's a >LOT< more work in many cases, especially if you cross manufacturers.)
If you want to pass smog, you need to keep the engine, tranny, emissions gear and all the engine-related electronics matched together as a set. In California, you'll need to show the smog referee that all is present and operating as if it were in the original car. The car will have to meet smog appropriate to the engine (not the car). Once the CAR is 30 years old, no more smog :)

When putting another motor in a car you have to make sure it fits in the slot and that all the hook ups on the new motor go in the same place as the old so usually if the two cars are alot of like you can but most of the time you have to have the same kinda motor to go in the old car.

the problem with the older pony cars is the front suspension, it intrudes on the engine compartment, so you are limited to a small block unless you want to do surgery and remove the coil spring towers, in the old days they would put a pu leaf spring axle under it, but today they use the Mustang ll replica like Flaming River makes.

it actual relies upon on the condition of the vehicle. We initially had a sixty 5 Fastback. It replaced into in very tough shape and mandatory a great style of TLC. We ended up cleansing the vehicle up great and dropped an '03 Cobra Motor + tranny and rear bring about it. A Rebuilt engine, actual relies upon on the block... you may get a junkyard 302 for about 3 hundred$. Rebuild with new internals and you're pushing decrease than one thousand$ and have an quite mind-blowing block. standard expenses for a clean engine are around 2500$ for carb and the comparable for EFI, yet harnesses on EFI will kill you. standard fee on a rebuild as mentioned above actual relies upon on what you initiate off with once you purchase a classic vehicle, seek for the epitome of a bad vehicle, that's rust. seek for as little rust as available, examine the floor pans, be sure the vehicle is sturdy, and it would not even ought to run - merely make sure it spins. additionally, as you mentioned it is going to be incredibly inventory, you will no longer ought to spend plenty. you ought to pull a me and purchase a Dart 302 4-Bolt block. yet which will run you approximately 10,000$ for a shortblock with out heads on my own.
