Because they are weak and can think only of their loss, not of God's greater plan. Pathetic.

Maybe. But it's also realizing that you will never see the person again. You can't be with them, you can't hear, talk to, touch them, ever again. Your mind might go to things you wish you would have done with them, things you wish you would have said to them, how much you'll miss them, and what a void is going to take place in your life. You may think of the things that the person may have had plans for, things they wanted to do, but now they can't . They will never realize these things. BUT the good news is that this loss is temporary. To be sure, you will miss them and the above listed things will take place but it isn't over. People of faith know that they will be with that person again in Heaven. There will be pain and disappointment in this life for awhile but Heaven brings all that to an end. In Heaven the re-uniting, joy, love, perfect health, etc. will last forever. This is what brings the Christian peace and joy amid the suffering.

No, because first of all they don't know if their loved one believed or not for sure. Second they cry more for themselves and not having that person in this life to share and enjoy with anymore. Third, they are sad for the family who lost their loved one, even if it is just temporary until we get to the other side. Do you think people who believe in heaven have no feelings? Think outside of the box here.

No, they're mourning the loss of life. They're mourning the fact that the person is no longer around and in their life anymore. That is painful with or without the idea of heaven. Just because you might think heaven exists, that doesn't mean you want to be alone in this world or without your spouse or parent or whatever. People cry because they miss the person that's not around anymore. That contradicts nothing.

Not at all. We are happy for the christians who we know have gone to be with the Lord, but our humaness will miss them here until we see them again in heaven. We're sad for them if they die in their sins or we are not sure. Remember what the shortest verse is in the Bible? John 11:35. It was when Lazarus died. When Jesus saw Mary and other Jews crying, He too cried. Not for Lazarus, but possibly because He empathized the loss that was felt by others.

For the same reason we cry when a beloved friend moves to another country and will not be coming back again. Even though we know our loved ones have "gone on to a better place," we know we will still miss them. I miss my sister Siene very much indeed, though I know she is in heaven right now.

Not all will go to heaven, but even for those who do, their loved ones are left behind, and they will grieve for their loss. The will be able to rejoice that they are in heaven , but even Jesus wept when Lazarus died. A Christian still misses the ones they love when they die,

No it isn't a contradiction. Even for those whom we know are saved and will go to heaven, we grieve for what we have lost. Grief is basically a self-centered mix of emotions. Emily Dickenson said it best when she wrote
"Parting is all we know of heaven
And all we need of hell"

No, they cry for their own sorrow at living here on earth without someone they love, not because they believe that the person is someplace bad or forever separated from them.

Good grief! Someone who is part of ones life are now gone and they will have to wait for death to see them again, which could be a very long time. The tears are from that.

Yes, it is. If anyone should be crying, it's the atheists, because for them, it really is the end and they don't have the luxury of believing that they will see that person again anywhere, in any form. I take death very hard because of that.
