Saracen
John of Damascus, himself a resident of the Caliphate's capital city, described the Saracens in the early 8th century :

There is also the people-deceiving cult (threskeia) of the Ishmaelites, the forerunner of the Antichrist, which prevails until now. It derives from Ishmael, who was born to Abraham from Hagar, wherefore they are called Hagarenes and Ishmaelites. And they call them Saracens, inasmuch as they were [sent away] empty-handed by Sarah (ek tes Sarras kenous); for it was said to the angel by Hagar: "Sarah has sent me away empty-handed" (cf. Genesis xxi. 10, 14).
These, then, were idolaters and worshippers of the morning star and Aphrodite whom in fact they called Akbar (Chabar) in their own language, which means "great". So until the times of Heraclius they were plain idolaters.

From that time till now a true prophet appeared among them, surnamed Muhammad (Mamed), who, having happened upon the Old and the New Testament and apparently having conversed, in like manner, with an Arian monk, put together his own heresy. And after ingratiating himself with the people by a pretence of piety, he spread rumours of a scripture (graphe) brought down to him from heaven. So, having drafted some ludicrous doctrines in his book, he handed over to them this form of worship (to sebas).
In this extract, John might actually have been referring to Allat, a pre-Islamic goddess equated with Aphrodite.

Yes and No
The trainings of all prophets are the peices of a chain that are connected to each other.Muhammad says the same things as the Jesus Christ said. There were some differences of course coz the people at Muhammads time were not the same people of Christ's time, so he needed to say some new thing and add some more Items to what Christ already said.
You know there has been evolution in every aspects of human life from the very begining. So if you think that people need to make some changes in diffrent ages, then their prophets needed some as well
God bless you son

Mohammed had no witnesses to his calling. He did no great thing where people saw or heard anything from God. All prophets were predicted before their time. Mohammed was never predicted to come by any of Gods prophets/ apostles before him. He created his own doctrine in a desert some similar to Christ but not the same. The BIGGEST AND BEST LIES ALWAYS HAVE SOME TRUTH IN THEM.. That is how many are deceived. Ex. He acknowledges Jesus as a prohet but not the son of God..But he believes he was born of a virgin.. So he's not born of a man he's born from a spirit but he's not the son of God..Then my question is whos' son is he?? Who is his father if no mortal man can claim him?? God is Spirit he's born of the Spirit of God which in any term answers the obvious YES HE IS THE SON OF GOD

Yes he followed the original teaching of jesus. What is followed by the christians today is not the orginal teachings of jesus. Muhammed's message was the orignal message of jesus.
What i mean by original is that Jesus's message was altered by the rulers of the time. The bible isn't orginal it has been changed. Jesus to islam is a prophet and he was sent down to teach the same principles muhammed did. So Jesus did not suceed becuase the people at the time rejected him. So God pulled jesus to heaven. He was not crucified and he is not the son of god. The man that was crucified is a look a like that took jesus's place at god's demand, to protect jesus.

Obviously not!!! Jesus was a far superior prophet of peace and mercy. Muhammad was ruthless in war, not considering ethnical ramifications when he was caught in the height of savagery. The only life Jesus Christ voluntarily gave up was his own. Muhammad was both erratic and hostile to those who would not follow him. Does that help?

While I respect the followers of Islam, they do not follow the teachings of Jesus as Christians do.

Muhammad didn't have to follow the teachings of Jesus, because they were both doing the same mission.

Peace.

...in a way. During the times when Islam was young, a muslim told a Christian king about Islam and he said "What they teach is the gospel of Jesus". In Islam, we worship the same God of Abraham, Moses and Jesus.

I don't recall Jesus teaching about marrying nine-year-olds or worshipping the moon, so I'm going to go with no.
