Officers have to serve a minimum of 6 years active and 2 years in the IRR (Inactive Ready Reserve). There is no "day to day commitment", it's 6 years. Once the time is up, you can resign your commission, or continue your service.

Can you "realistically" persue higher education? Yes. You just have to keep in mind that you will be working full time, sometimes on weekends, and that your military commitment takes precedence.

Your commitment is 6 years. You have to be available 24/7 except for 30 days leave per year. Realistically, you will have a 40 hour work week with occasional weekend duty.

In about 2 years i apply for the Health Scholarship Program (REALLY HOPE I CAN GET IT) and then I can go onto med school as a Captain in the Air Force.
