It is through Jesus that we are saved and by the Grace of God that we are forgiven.

You are not supposed to sin and say "ah Jesus will forgive me anyway." That's not how it works.

The point of Jesus death was as a ransom sacrafice. Since God sacraficed his only son Jesus Christ this meant that the whole human race didn't have to be destroyed. Also, this meant that humans no longer had to present animal sacrafices to God for their sins. Humans could simply pray in Jesus name to be forgiven of their sins.

God is like a father. Consider a good son and a bad son. Think of how much pride a father feels when a son does wise things and is humble. The son is showered with attention. Now think about the son who is always doing bad even though he knows right from wrong. The father is ashamed of him. It's the same with God. He certainly loves all of his children, yet he favors the ones who make him the most proud.

Repentance means to turn away from sin. It means to have a change of mind, a change of heart, a change of attitude, and a change of behavior. Thus if a person is simply confessing sins but has never repented from their sins, the Bible (in the book of James) says that the person was most likely never truly converted.
Now you have to understand that Christians will sin from time to time, but they won't live a lifestyle of sin, sin will not be a practice for them, again if it is then they should take a good long look at themselves and test themselves to see whether or not they are in the faith.
Jesus died for mans sins, but man has to accept that gift through faith...
My daughters birthday is fast approaching, and I have bought her several presents, but what if she chose not to accept those gifts? The gifts would have still been purchased for her, but she chose not to accept them.
Jesus purchased salvation through His shed blood and death on the cross, and He offers it to man as a gift, yet many a man chooses to refuse this gift, because with this gift comes a certain ammount of responsibility (repentance for one).
As for good people... there are no good people, we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, that is exactly why we need a Savior.

The idea that Jesus is a 'get out of Hell free' card is nothing short of ridiculous. Obviously you don't have to ask God for anything - He knows what's going on far, far better than you EVER will, nor is He likely to alter his perfect plans for your shortsighted demands. If you read the Bible, prayer is more to thank God for His mercy and beg Him for forgiveness.

Some misconceptions...
Jesus died "for the sins of many"
He did so to make forgiveness possible cuz without His death we would have to die for our sins, other words their is no remission of sin without def.

Its just that God is not smart enough to come up with another way to make us believe in him and ask for forgiveness so God has to kill another human. If God was all-powerful it would be able to make us believe without the need of human sacrifice.
