i was in times square at 1 in the morning over the summer...it was like it was the middle of the day! and there are officers walking about and it's really not as bad as people make it out to be. There were so many people just walking around some even with kids. I wouldn't go alone, i wouldnt go to any city alone but it's a lot safer than it was a few years ago. Now the other boroughs...I don't know about lol

Dude, it really depends on the area you're going to and the time. Don't wander certain places at night! My friend did and he got mugged! Research the area, after all, New York is a big place. And all big cities come with a variety of different sorts of people, sometimes not in your favor.

Of course it is. Don't believe everything you see in the media. New York is the greatest town on the planet. Nowhere to see more, do more and meet more interesting and fun people than in my favorite place on Earth. Apply the usual common sense used to travel anywhere and you are guaranteed to have great time. If you are staying in Manhattan, your concierge can provide some do's and dont's if you're really weary. Enjoy your time here!

You should go with someone that at least knows a little about the city.Dont walk the streets at night.There are areas where you can walk at night but if you dont know which,dont attempt it.The city during the day is pretty safe.
