Too my understanding Marines have kind of a standard way to call out a target when spotted in the field, something like range, discription, direction, etc etc.. does anyone know what specifically is used, an example would be extremely helpful. Thanks

The acronym is ADDRAC. Alert, (Squad!) Direction,(Direct Front!) Description, (Troops in the open!) Range, (300 Meters!) Assignment, (All Guns! or Machine guns only!) Control, (Commence Fire! or Wait for green star cluster!)
It allows a leader to communicate target information quickly and easily. The Corps uses a lot of acromyms to help easily remember different things.

well your question is pretty broad but i will give you a couple of examples. say your the squad leader on a patrol and you get sniper fire. you can say sniper 300 meters straight ahead, left of the rock, commence firing upon me firing. or you could say watch my tracer round, enemy right there. You could also use it for motars, tanks, naval fire, artillary.you could use it also for helo's and aircraft fire. basically it's "you this is me" and give them the coordinates for the target. and then you say hit or miss in the instance of a miss you say 300 meters north of target. you get the jist.

Why do you need to know?

What is this information for? How will you use it!

I know the answer but I would like to know why you need this information?

Are you trying to breach National security and jepoardise the lives of USMC personnel in a war zone?

Map coordinates.

All units have someone with a map. Coordinates are called out to the gun installation.

I think they shout, "Tally Ho" or something like that.

If I see a Marine, I'll ask.
