He is really good with my daughter, they grew up together. But he has signs of aggression towards me, when he does those things in the house. I want to keep him but he seems to have a problem with males. I also have an one year old son.

When it comes down to it he knows I am the boss of the house. But he keeps trying to do small things for a sense of power. Atleast that is the feeling I get.

What you have right now, based on the description of your situation, is a dominant, un-neutered, male dog.

What your dog is doing is asserting his dominance by being aggressive toward you and marking his territory. He doesn't need to assert his dominance with your daughter because they've grown up together and in his view, she most likely ranks as a subordinate, so there's no need for him to assert his dominance or challenge for rank.

You really need to learn about dog behavior and how to become the pack leader in your "pack" (your family). Dogs, some breeds more than other, need a strong leader, and leadership has to be constantly reinforces.

I would suggest that you learn about NILIF (Nothing In Life is Free) training. It's pretty much what your dog is doing with you now - you don't do as he wants, so he'll do his business in the home. Ideally, it should be the other way around. Your dog doesn't do what YOU want (for example, sit before getting fed, or wait for you to go out the door first), HE doesn't get what he wants. That's what NILIF training is all about - asserting your dominance in everyday uses, such as controlling when and what he eats, where he's allowed, how he's allowed to go outside, etc.

Do a Google search and look up NILIF training - you will get a lot of great sources that explain it in detail.

The other thing is, you may want to consider doing Ground Work with your dog. Ground Work is all about establishing pack structure with an adult dog, and Leerburg has a great article about it at http://leerburg.com/groundwork.htm

Good luck!

You need to be the alpha dog!

Take the poop he does inside and move it outside where he should be going. Take the dog out and praise him.

Also.....his pooping inside is his own personal power trip.
You need to make it NOT worth his while to mess in the house.

In the beginning of each day make eyecontact with the dog and stare him down. He needs to not be the top dog.
You might have to establish that daily or more often if need be. Him going poop inside needs to be a bad experience for him. Put his nose in it and say NO. Use your lowest sternest voice. Then holding him there.......use something to make a very lOUD noise, Then isolate him........like put him in the bathroom or somewhere for a ten minutes or so.
He will eventually learn that it isn't worth going poop inside.

Having him fixed will help some

No those things will not go a way sounds like the dog thinks he is the boss or th alpha male. You need to get him to know you are the leader of the pack and make him mind you. You may need a dog whisper to help you with bring him in line, and train your self as well.

It's a no and yes situation. Yes because he he most likely not do it as much. Their balls have a lot to do with "marking their territory. No because if he is not trained then how would he really know?
