US citizenship is a prerequisite for any security clearance.

In order to get a security clearance you must demonstrate that your primary and sole allegiance is to the US. If you are a citizen of another nation then you cannot have your primarily and sole be allegiance to the US.

You need to be a citizen to obtain a clearance of Top Secret or higher. Green Card might get you a Secret Clearance but not likely.

Why do people answer questions when they don't have a clue, and don't do the research.

The answer to your question is "No". IAW DoD 5200.2-R and AR 380-67, a US clearance is only for US Citizens.

You may be able to qualify for a NATO clearance, but I don't think that will help you any.

In order to get the highest clearance possible, you must have been a US citizen for at least 7 years. I don't know about lower clearances.

I may not be 100% correct on this but I believe that you can get a Secret clearance even as a non-citizen.

You would be better off trying to get a clearance through your own country of origin. Then proceed to ask for an American clearance...Through American channels.

Write to the U.S. Department of Defense or write to your local consulate and ask that same question of them. I am sure if you present a good argument as to why you should have a clearance and you have a clean and acceptable record, you would be strongly considered.

God luck.

Well, you should call Halliburton. They can get you any paperwork you want or need to work overseas.

Congratulations on having a green card. I live in Los Angeles and hardly anyone has one here.
