Valium is the pharmaceutical name of a drug containing diazapam which belongs to the Benzodiazapene group of drugs to treat anxiety and muscle spasm.It was introduced in the 1960's to replace the barbiturates used which were highly dangerous.They were prescribed to use only for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately prolonged use caused a dependency and withdrawal symptoms upon ceasing the drug

They are the same. Valium is the the brand name and diazapam is the generic name.

Diazepam is the generic name for Valium. Several pharmaceutical companies manufacture diazepam. Only one company manufactures the name brand Valium.

Diazepam is a generic name under which Valium is manufactured. Valium costs more also lol but they are pretty much the same drug.

Diazepam, of course, is the generic name of the drug, and Valium is one of its brand names. There are a lot of brand names under Diazepam, but only one generic name. ^^

well diazepam is an anti anxiety drug which is mainly used to sedate a person or to relieve him of his anxiety.vallium is an anti epileptic drug which is used for the treatment of seizures and epilepsy.
