We in Indonesia which its majority of oits people are muslims have spoken and also have done many works to destroy terrorism.We have killed Dr Azahari the biggest terrorist in Indonesia who came from Malaysia.We caught also his followers and we put them on jail and his big/important role petpetrators were given death penalty in the court..We hate terrorism so we search for them and catch them..We love peace but we hate the disturbance in our society.Islam is really the religion of peace but we hate oppression and accused without a real reason.Muslims are defender and not offense

Muslims shun those that use religion as an excuse to do violent acts, the problem is that most of the people involved in attacks are usually approached by those with corrupt ideals and convinced to join in.
But, you're probably just another american who sees the world in two shades, white and not white.

Same reason why most christians do not speak out against christians who behave badly here on Y!Answers R&S. They do not want to speak out against their own, especially in front of unbelievers.

Because people wont listen to them. Do u think we're shutting up? No.. anyone sees a muslim.. covered up and all. they'd avoid. why? they'd think they wont be friendly.. try talking to one. they'll be very nice to u.. unless they're the totally religious ones who do not want anything to do with socialising without reason

why don't Christian speak out against the Death Penalty if they are against taking a life? Why do they protest lesbians if they feel judging is wrong?
Some do, others don't. If you haven't noticed, it's your fault for not being observant.

It is called backbiting and is forbidden in Islam
"O you who believe! Avoid much suspicion, in deeds some suspicions are sins. And spy not neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear Allah, verily, Allah is The One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful" (Qur'an 49: 12)
"Do you know what backbiting is?” They said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He then said, “It is to say something about your brother that he would dislike.” Someone asked him, “But what if what I say is true?” The Messenger of Allah said, “If what you say about him is true, you are backbiting him, but if it is not true then you have slandered him."
