I'm not sure whether this is correct, but this is my idea of the same.

An inverter remains passive as long as power is available from the mains, and becomes active only when the power shuts down. Hence you will find a momentary flicker of the lights, when it switches to inverter power from the mains.

A UPS on the other hand, is continuously active, and power to the instrument is delivered from the UPS always, and never from the mains. Power from the mains keeps charging the battery of the UPS.

Again, UPS is used for specific instruments, whereas inverters are used for homes and establishments as a whole.

Am I right? Someone please tell me.

An inverter converts DC to AC. A UPS has an inverter in it. The UPS takes AC converts it to DC. That DC is used to charge batteries. The output of the battery goes to an inverter to make AC.

The AC doesn't necessarily have to be 120 VAC. A fluorescent light that runs off of 12V has an inverter in it. The light needs 300 to 400 VAC to light.

An inverter takes DC power (battery or solar, for example) and converts it into AC "household" power for running electronic equipment and appliances.

A UPS typically includes the battery and battery charger in one stand alone unit. However, there are UPSs that use external batteries, and PowerStream makes inverters with battery chargers, so the differences blurr as features proliferate.

An invertor is the circuit which changes ac- dc or dc-ac. A ups has a battery source for the purpose of storing dc for inverting to ac uninterrupted.

An invertor doesnot necessarily contain its own source for inversion.

rectifier ,invertor ,static switch, these are the main parts of UPS

rectifer is convert into A.C to D.c ,invertor is a D.C to A.C
invertor convertoring process main thing why it is UPS main part is invertor
