it depends on how serious you're getting but i'd do so within the first 6 months of it. it'll be good for the both of you to open up to eachother with feelings and so on and help you connect on a deeper level

I think it depends on the guy how he feels about that someone.
I open up pretty easily,i have never had trouble with this.

asap...but a lot of guys are shy...so basically they don't want to get hurt...
