Anything is possible, but the odds aren't good. A 1 year old is not fully mature and small dogs are prone to birthing problems. She could need a c section and lose her puppies. She could also need a c section and lose her own life. If you're set on breeding her, at least give her some more time.

I'm sorry, but no.

When you breed dogs, there is always a risk that there will be complications and that the mother and pups may die during the birth. It's not at all uncommon and even professional breeders with years of experience have lost their dogs during birth of their puppies due to complications, excessive bleeding, etc.

Your dog, at one year old, is still very, very young. Dogs go through their "teenage" phases between one and two years old, and should not be bred before they are at least 2 years old. When you breed a dog very young, they often loose the puppies and have a higher incidence of complications during the pregnancy and during the birth.

I would wait until the dog is at least 3 years old. While she can have puppies, a lot of times, dogs are still puppies themselves until at least 2-2.5 years. By 3 they are more mature and better physically and mentally able to have puppies. I have seen too many young mothers turn puppies away because they don't know what to do with them. Better off waiting another year or two. Or if you want a puppy now...adopt!

She should be able to safely breed, however She shouldn't be bred until she is a minimum of 2 years old. 3 is better.
As I always say ...a 13 year old child is CAPABLE of having a baby, but that doesn't mean she should.

A dog is still considered a puppy until 2 years of age. Let her grow and mature first.

Good Luck!

To prevent complications and puppy cross breeding, try to breed her with a pomeranian that is roughly the same size. If one is a lot larger than the other there might be complications during birth because the puppies may be too big for her to whelp without help. the best advice I can give you on whelping and puppies and etc is to go to http://www.chihuahualoving.com. It is a site that revolves around chihuahua whelping but it will come in handy for all your questions! I know it helped me out a lot when my chi was having her puppies. Don't let anyone tell you that your dog is too young or whatever because my chi got pregnant on her first heat and everything went fine..I guess it just depends on your dog but just make sure to keep her safe and make sure that the size is roughly the same in both dogs to prevent any complications. Like I mentioned before, go to the site and it will help out alot! Good luck!!

Most likely but not with a big dog & you should definately wait until it is at least 3 years old.

Don't breed your dog. There are enough unwanted dogs at the animal shelter that need homes.

Yeah it is cute and fun but it isn't necessary.

not only are you putting your dog's life on the line, you are also putting the puppies. I would wait until she is at least 2.

People like you are the reason you should have to have a license to own a dog. What the hell are you thinking?

Of Course that wouldn't happen.I had never seen such a thing!dogs are dogs. They don't easily die.our dog had a baby-5 yrs. ago actually. It was not the mother who died -it's the puppy.Well could you imagine-a dog dying because she can't take it? Believe me.I'm a dog lover.
