we have a mexican girl 23 years old that has been working for us for the past year. she speaks no english at all. she works 11 hours a day and is the only mexican there along with my mom and cousin. i try to converse with her to keep her from being bored but conversation is difficult because i know very little. she only speaks when i talk to her.and never talks to me. she is not a shy person. when i stand next to her it feels awkard like she is trying to avoid eye contact with me and she looks uncomfortable when im close. so i just stop trying to speak to her.

it would help if you learn a few short phrases in her language so she knows you are trying to be friendly. She might think you are asking her to do something, but she cant understand, which would make her feel more awkward and avoid you more. Smile when you talk to her, offer her a drink or to share a snack or meal, that will make her feel more comfortable. Then, she will most likely open up and maybe even teach you her language. good luck.

maybe she has a crush on you and that is why she seems so uncomfortable around you. try to talk to her more, if you do not speak Spanish, maybe you know someone who does that can translate for you?

not to sound mean but she has no care for you and rather not talk. but she will when she feels like she must. if you have to talk to her, just keep it short and simple. put yourself in her position and you will understand better.
