The nurse tried to tell me his skull and eyes were sunken in from the disease. I have learned different, and when he was in the hospital they told me it was from dehydration. Anyone know anything about it? This isn't a very good nursing home at all!

They have been tube feeding him through his stomach for about 1 month.

Multiple Sclerosis is a muscle/neuro disease and in the process of the disease, muscle tone is lost which could cause the sunken in effect.
Dehydration can cause the same.
Weight loss can cause this as well.
Either way, tube feeding of food or nutrients don't necessarily mean they are getting enough liquid as in water which is absorbed in the skin thusly "plumping" the skin.
Does your Dad have a catheter in his bladder to keep him empty of urine? What is draining out of his bladder can also be a good indicator of dehydration.
Generally speaking,a record of liquids going in should be kept and a record of urine going out should be kept.
Usually if a patient is well hydrated, the amount of liquid going out shouldn't be much less than what is going in BUT if dehydraton is ocurring you will see more liquids going in and less going out as his body is retaining it.
Also, the darker/thicker the urine can be an indicator that the patient is dehydrated.
A good rule of thumb test of dehydration is to pick up some skin on the back of one's hand(hold it for a 3-5 seconds). If a patient is well hydrated, the skin will resume it's original place as soon as you let go of it. If they are dehydrated, the skin will stand in a "peak" shape until it falls back into it's original place.
The slower the "peak" moves back to it's original place the more the patient is dehydrated.
PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE don't take this wrong but is it possible that your Dad is in his final stages of his disease? You will notice things like what you describe prior to the end.
God Bless you as you are going through a tough time in your life and you need to be strong and I know it will be hard.

Dehydration can be fatal. Does his skin seem dry? If you don't trust the nursing home then by all means have him moved to a better facility.

If it was dehydration...and it sounds like it WAS, you need to speak with the administrator at the nursing home ASAP. There is no excuse for them not to be able to supply your dad with basic needs like fluid. If they're not even able to keep him hydrated, what other care is he lacking?! Keep yelling until someone listens! Threaten to sue for neglect.

That's not MS, that probably is dehydration. I'd have that nursing home investigated or move your father to a better, caring one.

The best thing I can tell you, is to get a second opinion. Sounds like he is not being feed enough, but I could be wrong. I sure would have it checked out.

WHEN SOMEONES SKIN BECOMES DRY,OFTEN TIMES THERE IS A SUNKEN APPEARANCE TO THE EYES. ALSO THE DIET YOUR DAD EATS DOES NOT PROVIDE HIM THE NEEDED ESSENTIAL FATS HE NEEDS TO MAINTAIN THE ADEQUATE ELASTICITY TO HIS SKIN.
AS PEOPLE AGE THEY DO LOSE ELASTICITY OVERALL, BUT A SUNKEN EYE APPEARANCE ALSO TELLS ME HE IS UNDERWEIGHT.
PLEASE SPEAK TO THE DOCTORS WHO OVERSEE HIS CARE AND VOICE YOUR CONCERN. BRING PHOTOGRAPHS OF HOW HE'S CHANGED OVER TIME.
