I am an african-american male, and I have really long hair, but it is thick, and very frizzy, but very long and I wear braids and sometimes ponytails. I purchased Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine leave in hair conditioner, and I am trying to make my hair thin out, shiny, and slick it back and lay it flat for a ponytail, I was wondering should I put the leave-in conditioner in my hair right after I shampoo it and condition it with regular conditioner while its still wet, or should I wait til' its dry? and do you think it will help slick my hair back for the shine and ponytail I want???

about 70% dry...because your hair is like a sponge...it won't absorb the conditioner if it already has absorbed too much water. Think of trying to clean a spill with a wet sponge...it isn't going to soak up anything. If the sponge was just a little damp though, it would soak it up. So if your hair is just a little damp, it'll soak the conditioner up!

I usually use a leave in conditioner after I have shampooed and conditioned my hair in the shower. Read the back of the bottle, it should tell you if you are meant to put it on while wet or not... I usually put one on while my hair is wet. It sounds like a pomade might be more what you are looking for. You put a pomade on while your hair is dry and it adds shine and weight to your hair so it lays down better... also invest in a hard bristle (natural) brush.

Put it on while your hair's still wet and porous. My husband is East Indian and his hair is very long and frizzy. He uses Mane N' Tail and it really makes a big difference! It is more geared toward hair for "people of color". If the Fructis doesn't work, give M&T a try. It makes his hair reeel purty! (lol)

P.S. He also wears his hair slicked back and pony tailed and it works for him.

Actually put it at the end and then roots when its wet and then after it's dried use a tiny bit to smooth flyaways.
