I have a zenith vre 200 vcr from i would say late 80s or so. How could i be able to record programs from cable tv if im not at home. I already know how to set the time and everything but im not sure what else im going to need to have it to record right. If anyone could give me some advice it would be very much apprieciated

You have the right idea. All you have to do is set up the program mode to use the timer to turn on the VCR at the correct time/date and proper channel and go in to the record mode. Most of the Zeniths could be programed for several shows over several days and different times. This is quite handy when going on vacation. The other use was, as you say, to record a pattern of shows every day when you go to work. The program mode will stay in memory till you clear it and the VCR can still be used when you are home, out side of the program loop.
