I believe we won that war. We had the north ready to sign peace deal but the souths president refused the deal. ( An agreement on the terms for peace is reached between North Vietnam and the US in October 1972. However, when South Vietnam refuses to believe that the North is sincere, the peace negotiations falter ). after that we bombed them heavily, then ( On 27 January 1973 all parties sign the 'Agreement on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam', the so-called 'Paris Accords'. ) Then we got out. ( By the end of March 1973 all the US combat troops have been withdrawn. ) After full withdrawal, 2 years later is when the communists took control.(Once they are convinced the US withdrawal will be permanent, the communists again start to move south,The communists take Saigon on 30 April 1975.

I am a Viet Nam Vet. We could have and would have won that war if not for the war protesters and Democrat congress that had our hands tied so much we couldn't fight a real war.

It is up to the Commander in Chief and the generals to run a war. Just like Iraq though, Congress tried to run the war. Something that was against the Constitution and something they didn't know how to do.

If they would keep their illegal noses out of Iraq and let the generals run it, we can win this war also.

Yes. Al we had to do was tell the North Vietnamese that we would return when they violated the peace treaty and invaded South Vietnam in 1975,

WE were winning until the enemy financed the propaganda war at home and turned the wasted hippie population and under educated college dropouts against us.

without the defeatist we'd have run them over like road kill.

FDR, to equate the cost of war is to be defeated, we must focus on winning.

Most definitely. We had air, naval, and ground superiority duriong the longevity of the war. The only reason we lost was because we lost support from the American public and because it was a political war.

The military could have, yes. The war was lost (like Iraq will be) because the politicians are calling the shots.

America can win any war. I am not saying that because of pride, it is true. We need to learn that there is no room for politics on the field of battle.

War is not pretty, people die.
It is a necessary evil.
Without war there is no peace.
