I need to purchase Windows XP Professional I currently have Windows XP Version 2002 but I did not purchase it I received it from somebody else that purchased it so I can't update it when Microsoft releases new updates and my Anti-Virus software has expired. My computer is running very slowly and I'm getting worried I do everything on my computer so I can't afford to have it crash on me. Can anybody tell me where I can buy a legitiment (latest edition) version of XP Pro and download it so that I don't have to wait for the CD to get here (if that's even possible). I tried doing it but there are way too many versions, questions, too much to choose from so can somebody who knows more about this please help me I'd really appreciate it.

I know that you don't want to wait but: http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/SubCategory.asp?SubCategory=368&name=Operating-Systems
for $140 and you can have it overnight delivery.

Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP2b 1pk w/Upgrade Coupon for Vista - OEM

or try Best Buy, Circuit City, Staples, Office Max, Office Deport...etc. Get the SP2b package.

Unfortunately there's actually no such thing as WIndows XP Version 2002...

Versions:
Microsoft Windows Vista - latest "Windows" operating system
Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2, also known as Windows XP SP2 - is the latest "XP" series Windows. Please refer to the newegg.com link to see product from retailer.

Both Vista and XP come with various "flavors" i.e. Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Home...Windows Vista Home/Premium/Ultimate/Professional...

Since you mentioned specifically you wanted XP Professional - I've included the link below.

So name nomenclature broken down:
Microsoft - Maker
Windows - Product Title
XP - Product Version (95/98/ME/2000/XP/Vista)
Professional - Product target audience (Home for ordinary users, Professional for business, etc)
SP2 - Product Service Release (last huge patch - does not include incremental patches still required from windows update)

i don't believe you can legally download winxp pro, vista is only microsoft operating system u can download to my knowledge. the only way to get a copy as fast as u you would like is to call your local computer stores, and see if they have copies or search ebay for someone in your area with a copy. Just make sure whoever you get it from its legal and has a product key so u dont get any notifications in your system tray from microsoft about your version not being valid.

Microsoft doesn't release their Operating systems for download, but you can get an OEM version for relatively cheap. I think XP Pro is around $120..but dont quote me. you can check out www.newegg.com or www.tigerdirect.com for those, or visit your local computer store.
