It really does depend. What does it hit? There is a gross video on youtube showing the effects of two Malaysian men riding a motorcycle, and running into a pole protruding off of the back of a stopped truck. The pole (at least 6 inches in diameter) went completely through both of them...made them look like shishkabob ingredients. They were taken to the hospital with the pole still through their chests. Eventually, the pole was cut between them, and then the doctors got the pieces out of each man. Crazy stuff. Of course, they could have just as easily perished.

you would most likely have a tentioneumothorax (air in the chest cavity) very painfull. seal the wound with a sterile gauze on three sides only.

depends...if you take the object out of the wound, you might bleed...if you leave it in, it will act as a cork...depending on where the wound is, you can collapse a lung, puncture the heart, stomach, liver, pancreas, and spleen...you can also crack ribs, which will in turn puncture any or all of the above...
Or you might hit fat and do nothing...
