And to wait until the afterlife to see what happens? If we do not practice evil, if we shun what is bad, if we love others as ourselves and assist whenever able and possible, are these characteristics not enough to see us through in the afterlife? Besides, the Bible says specifically that there WILL be a resurrection of the rightetous and of the unrighteous. So, when we are resurrected we can then learn the rules and follow them accordingly. I think this is the best plan yet, to be 1000 percent honest. I really do.

Gary, I have done many things against Jehovah in my lifetime. This message board isn't large enough to hold those things.

I appreciate that you think "this is the best plan". And I'm not being sarcastic. I really do understand your thinking. The only thing is...your plan is not God's plan. God has made a way for you, and me, and each person, to be forgiven their sins. It is through belief in His son Jesus who died on a cross to pay for our sins.

Therefore, just as the bible says, God will one day separate the sheep from the goats. Meaning, believers in His son from those who reject His son. Only those who have been washed clean of their sins through Christ will enter into the kingdom of God.

Just so you know, our "good ideas" are just that. God's word will stand forever.

Hon, even your conscience has a set of rules governing what it considers "right" from "wrong". Wherever you learned those rules....THAT is your moral code. It might be civil law, it might be what your parents taught you as a child, it may be a code belonging to a particular religion, whatever.

There are plenty of rules to learn now, and lots of revelation to guide you into what is really right and wrong. Arbitrarily picking that ourselves leads to disaster: everybody ends up with a different code!

"Waiting until we are resurrected and then learning the rules" is moral bankrupcy. This life counts too. Don't try to just float through it!

Sure, but not everyone has a conscience. Everyone's definition of evil or bad may not be the same. Besides, what moral issues are you speaking of? Abortion, euthanasia, rape? Each person will have different views on what they believe to be moral. So, if I get what you are saying, it is that if we live a good life, or what we perceive to be a good life, then it will all work out in the end. Maybe, maybe not. It depends on who you talk to and what church you go to, or don't go to. It's all in how you perceive it.

Well I don't believe in an afterlife, but you're certainly better off letting your conscience guide you than following a set of ludicrously outdated rules written under the authority of an imaginary being.

How did you get your conscience? There are those who think that murder is okay so they don't have a consciene telling them it is wrong. Everyone has junk in their brains that they think is okay. How do women kill their unborn babies? No conscience!

Don't risk your eternal life based on your own opinion of how the system works. God did much better than that for you, He has been honest with you. The truth, not one of us deserves Heaven, we all deserve hell because we are sinners, each of us are, not one person is innocent of sin. The price for sin is hell(if you pay for your own sins). There are many good people who did good things in their lives in prison, why, because they broke the law and are paying for it. Hell is like that for the sinner. Good news, Jesus died for your sins, by accepting Him as your Savior from sins, you will go to Heaven, not because you are good, but because He is perfect and made the payment for you.

You might say that He went to prison for you, did your time.

That's good in theory, but not all people have a conscience, a moral compass, or believe in the afterlife, and each person has their own version of the truth.

The Bible says exactly what you just described over and over again. The Apostle Paul, in particular, echoed that very sentiment many times in the New Testament.

I needed to look much deeper into myself than this thing called conscience.

The Bible also says, "All our righteousness is as filthy rags"

IOW, you can't make it on your good deeds....that is why Christ had to come and obtain our salvation for us.....

If we could do it by being good enough, then Christ died in vain.....

Only accepting Jesus can we become righteous. We can sear our conscience to where we don't have one if we are not careful.
