Contrary to popular belief, green tea can have as much caffeine as black tea.
You can't tell how much caffeine tea has from its colour. The finest Japanese green tea - Gyokuro - contains more caffeine than the black Lapsang Souchong.
High grade green tea is made from bud and the first two or three leaves. These tender shoots are the sweetest and tastiest.
Unfortunately, the younger the leaf, the more caffeine it contains. It is no coincidence that the finest green tea from China (Longjing or Dragonwell) and Japan (Gyokuro) also have one of the highest caffeine.
Many experts advise that 30 to 45 seconds of hot washing would remove 80% of the caffeine. A 1996 study conducted by Auburn University dispelled this myth.
The first 5 minutes infusion only soaks up 70% of caffeine.

Yes. Green tea contains far more caffeine that regular tea.
By the way, the lethal dosage of caffeine in humans is dependent on weight and individual sensitivity and estimated to be roughly 80 to 100 cups of coffee for an average adult taken within a limited timeframe.

It has far less caffeine than coffee and usually about 1/3-1/2 less than black tea. To remove most of the caffeine from any tea simply steep it for one minute, dump out the water, and steep again in new water for however long you like to steep your tea for. This removes 80% of the caffeine while retaining almost all of everything else.

Clinical trials conducted by the University of Geneva in Switzerland indicate that green tea raises metabolic rates and speeds up fat oxidation. In addition to caffeine, green tea contains catechin polyphenols that raise thermogenesis (the rate at which calories are burned), and hence increases energy expenditure

Yes, it does unless it explicitly states that it is decaffeinated. However, it has less caffeine than black tea and more caffeine than white tea. This is just the opposite for antioxidant benefit. If you are looking for decaffeinated green tea look for naturally decaffeinated tea.
