Now honestly he can't really be trying to pick you up at 40 mph or so. So what is the deal, do women find it a compliment or annoying?

When I was younger it was so annoying... Now that I'm older, I'd like to know that people are still looking at me...haha...yea so it's a compliment when you're older...

Reversal: what is the guy thinking when he honks at a girl at 40 miles an hour?
First off: she can't see anything but the back of your head. Second: she's going to be pretty startled at the sudden noise. Does any guy honestly think that she's going to a) run after his car to find out who that mysterious guy with suave and charm is or b) get his license plate number to google him for a date. Really? Its rude and annoying. i get honked at all the time. A hi or wave would do. And if you're really serious, hey I'm walking, you could offer me a lift in a non-creepy way!

If it is a light, "hello" honk, then that's what they think it is, just someone saying hi that they might know. Other wise, if its loud and obnoxious, then they might think they are doing something wrong like going to slow or something. Honking in geneal is annoying though, so dont trying pickin someone up that way (not that i'm saying you were or anything, lol).

If it's dark outside and I'm trying to get somewhere, it scares the piss out of me. If it's the middle of the day and some guy honks at me, it makes me feel sexy and super confident.

Well every woman is different, also it depends on who the guy in the car is...if it happens often, we may get annoyed, and if its the occasional thing, then its a compliment in a way..its not very classy though...

Its the same thing as whistling in my opinion. It is rude and unetiquette. Women like to be treated with class and respect. You can always show a girl your inteested in a decent way..

In this day and age, who knows? Sometimes it could make a girl pretty nervous...sometimes you really would rather not be attracting attention....and sometimes, she might be a little flattered....it's a little like being whistled at.....but nothing is that clear-cut anymore. It could be the wrong guy doing it!

Yeah....I take men's adoring eyes as a compliment, but honking, whistling, cat calls....NOT COOL.

it depends.. some like the attention, some think it's digusting/ rude and/or obnoxious.
my advice would be to discontinue honking.

That is not the bad part. It's when the guy makes rude gestures with his mouth or hands, or oh yeah let me see.... When they grab their you know whats with their hand. Hate it.
