Isaiah tells us to call on the Lord while he is near. God is not planning to move away from us, but we often move far away from him or erect barriers of sin between us. Don't wait until you have drifted far away from God to seek him. Turning to him may be far more difficult later in life. Or God may come to judge the earth before you decide to turn to him. Seek God now, while you can, before it's too late.

I prefer the nkjv, "Seek the Lord while he may be found. Call upon him while He is near." This is simply an encouragement to seek a relationship with God whenever you get a chance. There are times when it may seem that God is far away and times you feel that he is near. When you sense his presence, seek his will. And when you know he wants to be in your life, call on him and let him in.

Dear Frnd,
Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.
Isaiah 55:6 NLT
It means tht seek Lord as u will definitely find Him by the help of Meditation coupled with deep devotion n love for Him...and call him (with deep love n devotion) as he is already there.
It is YOU who r not aware of it.
Through meditation (looking inside oneself), gradually negative and bad thoughts tht cover the identification of the soul with God disappear...and we become aware of the fact tha God was already there waiting for us..only tht we didnt see Him as we never gave time for Him, never want to see Him...God knocks the door of the heart of every soul, it is WE who have to open it...by makin efforts, sittin in Meditation..
i hope now u r clear about it..
God bless
Aditi

Seek the Lord, because he may be found.
Call upon him, because he is near.
Repent before you die, for after death there is no conversion of the soul.
When you die, there is no "finding Him", as He will find you! So seek Him now while you have the chance.

When comparing that scripture with the one below in Amos, without being dogmatic, one would think that this would occur during the great tribulation mentioned in Matthew. That it refers to a calamity, though it could be a personal calamity, is emphasized by (DRC) Proverbs 1:25-32. Here God warns the ungodly:
"You have despised all my counsel, and have neglected my reprehensions. 26I also will laugh in your destruction, and will mock when that shall come to you which you feared. 27When sudden calamity shall fall on you, and destruction, as a tempest, shall be at hand: when tribulation and distress shall come upon you: 28Then shall they call upon me, and I will not hear: they shall rise in the morning and shall not find me: 29Because they have hated instruction and received not the fear of the Lord, 30Nor consented to my counsel, but despised all my reproof. 31Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, and shall be filled with their own devices. 32The turning away of little ones shall kill them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. 33But he that shall hear me, shall rest without terror, and shall enjoy abundance, without fear of evils."
(DRC) Amos 8:11-12, "Behold the days come, saith the Lord, and I will send forth a famine into the land: not a famine of bread, nor a thirst of water, but of hearing the word of the Lord. 12And they shall move from sea to sea, and from the north to the east: they shall go about seeking the word of the Lord, and shall not find it."
Since they call on him and do not get an answer, he is 'far' away so to say, not near!

The word "seek" means to search out. When people sought out God, they put would aside anything or any obstace which would hinder them from getting to God. Likewise, when a person "seeks" out God, he or she is taking the steps or process which will bring them closer to God, regardless of what they have to give up. This particular scripture is in reference to having a intimate relationship with God. Or, looking for His salvation. God gives every person the opportunity to seek after Him, before the door closes.

Use the yellow pages and dial his number before he gets out of his wireless network and incurs roaming charges. Cause thy God to receive unnecessary fees and thou shalt feel His wrath.
