WHY am I being asked to validate windows because of changes in hardware after all these years.?

Because of Micro$oft's way of determining the unique machine signiture. It looks at certain hardware signitures and uses that for part of the registration. When one of these hardware items change, the system says to reregister.

Because of all the pirated copies of WINDOWS.
