You should have included Catholic in the actual question.

For Catholics I say it's marriage of Priests, I think that's a big problem.

Confession and the absolution of MOST sin. Catholics and their Priests will be the first to admit they don't absolve harsh things like Murder or Rape. But more simple things, that's a problem. Fornication. Divorce for no reason. Theft. Gang violence. Drug dealing.

For Catholics ... I am sorry but JPII did a poor job of protecting Latin America and Africa from the expansion of other denominations and religions. Slowly, Brazil is becoming more and more prominent. Protestant Missionaries are all over Africa doing good works. Islam has gained all over Africa, and is moving into Latin America. Thats number one.

Number 2, JPII should have made heads ROLL after the gay sex scandal. The Church always finds ways to stick its foot in its ***. But, in the media age, someone needed to put on the breaks. I think Benedict is doing good a job. Or, atleast not as bad. I cannot cite exactly anything he has done. But, the Muslim protests last year, he did a great job of repenting and silencing his critics. Something JPII did not do much of in the last few years.

Last, let priests marry. Many people are taking up more "humanistic" views of Jesus' life on earth. I do not believe he was married. But, with all of the "info" out there saying he was, it is poppycock to not allow some preist to marry.

Finally, get off the abortion/gay bashing kick. I understand both are wrong. But, lets face it. For every person we convert through are battles against gay marriage and abortion, we turn away 3 practicing Catholics.

Hopefully Benedict will become as charismatic as JPII the second. And, hopefully, without being shot. But, Benedict needs to clean house... For a while there, it seemed like JPII was just holding on because stepping down is near blasephemy. JP was great in the 80s and early/mid 90s. But, as the leader of the Chruch Organization, he was a decent Pope (CEO) at best in the end.

Just my thoughts.

The biggest problem with religion today, and not just with Catholics, is that people don't read their Bible and search for answers within themselves. They go to church, and believe whatever they are told to believe. I'm not saying that Churches are wrong, but I have attended serveral churches that I quit attending, just because the teachings were in no way backed by anything in the Bible. I don't claim to have divine understanding, but I do know what it says. People now days, no matter what religion, need to pick up their Bibles and start teaching themselves. You are responsible for your own spiritual development, not the Church. The Church is a helper not a teacher.

Catholics believe in purgatory which is completely unbiblical. the church made that part up so when people come in after the death of a loved one the church can say "well Johnny is dead and he went to purgatory so if you pay me I will pray for him and he can go to heaven." it is a horrible shame to do this do someone. pluse most church's don't believe in evolution. it's not like there is a great debate betwen scientist if evolution is acceptably or not.

Religions today are trying to have us 'do' something but it has already been done for us. I religiously brush my teeth every morning and doesn't get me any closer to God...it's about the relationship. I see the biggest problem with religions today is that they are not teaching about the relationship God wants to have with us.

There's a whole lot of religious problems today, !

For one, there are so many "christian churches" that sometimes you'd see two different "churches" on two opposite corners of the street?

Two, all of them are using almost the same bible yet, they have different beliefs on major biblical doctrines?

Three, one church there believes that Jesus Christ is man, and one here believes he is God?

Four, one here shouts that by believing in Jesus one will be saved, and one there says that one should give one's life for the sake of the gospel to be able to receive salvation?

Five, another one there claims to be christian yet, practicing unbiblical practices?

Well, I can lay here at least a thousand differences...can you cite at least one...?

God bless...

Where to start... Intolerance, judgment of others, hypocrisy, arrogance...shall I go on. Now, saying that, not all religious people are like that. Majority is, but not all.

There are entirely too many religions. Christians are turning against Christians. We all need to unite in faith. If you are atheist, that is ok too, at least they all believe the same.
