The pace of our daily lives definitely has implications on our relationships. Good point.
But what "past years" are you talking about? Are you talking about divorce or just typical relationships? Dating relationships start and end all the time. Most people need to experience a variety before they know how to recognize the one with whom they're most compatible.
As for marriage... there are a lot of issues at work there. Work, kids, mid-life crises, loss of stamina... but most importantly in my opinion, they got married too young and too soon into their own relationship. People don't realize that many of their emotional needs are disguised as "love" and they tie the knot with the wrong type of person for them. People need to be older and more stable when they get married.

Because nobody wants to have to change.
People want to fall into a relationship that doesnt require compromise. Youve got to be one lucky son of a ***** to have that happen, or more than likley one person is doing all the compromising while the other is being a bully.
Then again sometimes people get together too quickly before really knowing each other, then come to realize they have nothing in common and hate each other. You cant compromise your way out of that.

This might not tend to your question but i wanna point this thing out that i have been thinking alot this month. Today love is like a game to many people. It is so strict, down to the point, and most the time it isnt love, it is just people going out cuz people force them just cuz looks or similarities. I hate this. Love used to be personality and the inside, I wish today it was like this but things change and we have to adapt to this nonsense. This is why there are so many questions on Yahoo for single and dating questions. It is retarted and i miss true love. I wanna say one thing tho, try hard and prey and u will succede. :)

I think people find it easier to just give up. They don't want to be bothered trying to work things out. Plus there is a lot of influence from the media...too many stars that get married too soon & divorced shortly after...it's become a way of life.
I'm the opposite, I think it's better to stick it out to the end...for better or worse....

Societies views have changed ie womens lib, views on sex, culture and media influence, less people attending church and living the life of God and morals, move to individual rights vs co-operative communities, and the list goes on... Society says find 'perfect' which doesnt exist. Society says throw it out and replace it with something new- life is disposable. Sad to say, sad to say...

I think that more of it arises from our increased opportunities to meet other people. Some of these will be an attractive distraction. Also, people are living longer, and people's needs in others change over time.

Oh you know the whole "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" line. To many choices. To many people with no values and morals!
Every one pretty much does what ever they want.

most people are so in a hurry to have the whole "living-the-life-lifestyle" that they forget to enjoy the life given to them...
they dont see reason to appreciate the people that do love them, and therefore end relationships without meaning to.
