I'm a 14 yo and a few days ago I woke up and was on my period which usually lasts 3-4 days. The strange thing was there was a wierd pain in the bone in the middle of my chest. It felt like an ache/bruise in my bone. It's been about 3 days now. It also feels like a tightening feeling and sometimes it would radiate to the left side. Sometimes when I'm sitting it's okay but the second I stand up I feel the ache/tightening again. It makes me feel as if something's chocked in my throat and I have to cough when I really don't need to. Also in a way somethimes feels clogged or like there's something on my left side. Maybe my heart? Btw I weigh only around 105 or so pounds.

I've also had acid reflux and bloating 3-4 months ago that lasted for a month. I also always have mucus in my nose/back throat but normally my nose is never severely clogged. Only when I'm sick. I never went to the doctors for the reflux/mucus either.

I hope I didn't forget anything else that may be important. =)

The best advise anyone can give you is, go see a doctor. The tightening of the chest and everything else combined is a good reason to go see a doctor, advise that you would get on here is not very good when it comes to self diagnosing. Be smart and tell your parents or anyone that can help to set you up for an examination. If for any reason someone won't help you set up an appointment then go to the school nurse at school and explain to her what you are feeling.

Reflux - when the upper part of the stomach gets irritated and the esophogus muscles stay open reflux happens.
Eat a proper - well balanced diet.
Chew - well masticated

The pain does not suggest the need for the chiropractor although using one is never a bad idea.

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas (natural muscle relaxers) daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, (if this does not do it you probably need a chiropractor as well) you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

I had acid reflux and did not see my doctor until my symptoms were like yours it was an ulcer! Write down all that you put in this post and see your doctor ASAP.

You need to go to the doc, and write down everything that you want to tell the doc just so you don't forget anything!

I always forget to tell him everything..

You could be having growing pains,
or you could have another very serious problem.

If you are scared tell your parents you want to go to the emergency room.

You should see your pediatrician. Could be something minor, but, could be serious. Have it checked out - don't put it off.
