How come grapes seem to have a kind of film on them . Its kinda clear and I cant wash it off no matter how much I soak them in water . What is it? Is it pesticides or somekinda other cause?

yeah its pesticides. buy your grapes from a natural food market, organically grown.

It's called "blush" and it's a natural yeast that all grapes have. All you need do is rinse your grapes. The yeast is harmless - and if you were to mash the grapes and add a bit of sugar, that yeast would cause the mash to begin to ferment. When the fermentation stops, you strain out the solids and what is left is called "wine". Yup, the alcoholic stuff. Does not taste real good sometimes, but then, many moons ago, flavor wasn't what the drinkers of wine were after. Nowadays, the mush - properly called "mast" - is first sterilized to kill the natural yeast and then a more desirable yeast is infused, and when that ferments and is strained, a much tastier wine is produced. It's yeast, you can't ferment the must without it, unless you add yeast to the mix.
