Alright, I'm not fat. I'm more on the plump side, really. But I could stand to lose a few pounds. Well, I'm too shy to go to a trainer or anything, so I decided, hey, I'll just exercise in my own room!

Well I decided to start out simple, about three reps of crunches. I stopped, had some water, ate something, and went to bed. I got sick.

I don't get sick often, but when I do, it usually is for no longer than two days. Even when I had the flu it only lasted for three days.

Well, I stopped it for a while, the exercising. Now I wanna start again, but I'm a bit scared. I HATE getting sick. So I don't really want to exercise if I'm going to get sick again, ya know?

So....any ideas on why I got sick? Could it be that I ate something after doing crunches? A fluke maybe? I really don't want to exercise if I'm gonna get sick again. ...did I mention I HATE getting sick? With a passion.

So...I guess I'm looking for any suggestions or answers...?

AdvoCare Products can help. www.advocare.com/0701761. I know what you mean. I would start with stretches first. Work up to crunches. I would sit in a chair, with knees bent even with the legs of the chair or hip width apart. Take your left hand and place it on the edge of the right side of the chair. Take your right arm and arc it over your head and stretch - hold for the count of 3. Relax. Do not bounce or jerk your arm. Do this 3 times each side. It works your waist and side muscles. Work your way up to count of 5.

Sit on the floor with your legs spread out live a "V". Reach for your toes - one side hold stretch for a count of 3 - each side and one time reaching as far as you can in the open space in front of you. Work up to count of 5.

Now lay on your back. Raise your arms up straight like you are reaching for the ceiling. Hold your stomach in and then raise your head off the floor keeping your neck straight. This is a crunch, but not the stomach doubling up type. It has really worked for me.

It is best to start with these types of slow stretches. I usually do these on an empty stomach before breakfast. After I do some of these you can have some water or juice. Wait about 20 minutes then eat breakfast. But do not do the crunches again.

Well I really doubt your getting sick is from doing crunches, I mean think about it, if it made people sick then why does society praise exercise so much?! Don't be scared to try it again. Anything could have made you sick, to the water you drank to a stranger on the street who may have transmitted it to you. The best way to avoid getting sick is to take your daily vitamins, and don't be afraid to exercise!

This may sound simplistic, but if something makes you sick, don't do it.

Try something that makes you feel energized, like walking. Don't do too much to start with. Just a little bit of exercise can make a difference and you can build up in time.

My compliments for all your efforts.

Either you got dehydrated during your work out or you ate to soon.

Drink at least 8 ounces of water within 30 minutes before your work out and have a bottle of water handy to drink during your work out. Don't eat for at least 45 minutes after you exercise.

-Junk food is my weakness, I just don't buy it so that I am not tempted. Its ok to have small portions of -not so healthy- foods occasionally.
