You see it all the time on TV and I have known some cases personally. They make the child a junior or a similar name knowing that the baby could be someone else’s. Personally I don’t like naming kids after the parents to me is unimaginative, but that is a topic for another question.

Maybe at the time there to afraid to admit it to their partner .... Only to realize it's something that takes over their life and they can no longer bear it . When once upon a time (when they named there baby) they thought it would be easy to keep this large secret....

I understand and respect the tradition and pride that goes along with a father naming a child after himself.

However, I agree that it's totally wrong to do so when the mother doesn't know for sure who the father is. I think a lot of them name the baby after the one they like the most/hope is the father. It's pretty ghetto.

I agree with that but people do do it all the time perhaps it is a case of wishfull thinking if they name the baby after the guy they want maybe the baby will turn out to really be his. I dont 'get it but there ya are

I think girls do this because they hope the man the baby is named for will feel more of a connection. Maybe some of it is just wishful thinking.

That's hilarious. Your child's name is John Smith Jr. and his real father is Bob Jones....lol. I think these women are honestly wishing that the man they name their child after turns out to be his father. It's weird.
