just wondering when my male puppy, who is 6 months, will get male dog characteristics?

he's a corgi, and i've heard male corgi's get thicker, moe hairy necks and other characteristics to make them look more like a male.

He's just starting to now, and it could be anywhere between 9 months and 2 years for him to "act" like an adult male dog. Generally speaking, the bigger the dog, the longer it takes to reach full maturity. Usually they act adult between 12 and 18 months, but the giant breeds are slow to mature, and the toy/small breeds are "right on it" pretty young.

Male dogs begin doing male dog things, like urine marking, at 6-9 months of age. They also reach sexual maturity at around 10 months-1 year of age. But a dog isn't an adult until 2 years of age.
Please get your dog neutered as soon as possible. Neutering will reduce aggressive tendencies, and the tendency to roam. It will also lessen his chance of getting certain diseases, like prostate cancer and others. It's also a responsible thing to do, since you won't be adding to the huge overpopulation of dogs in North America.
If you're waiting for thicker fur, your dog will probably get a more masculine appearance by the time he's 2 or 3 years old.

It depends, but it usually starts around 7-8 months old and lasts until close to 3 years old.
This can be impacted by neutering, which at 6 months is the perfect age to neuter. This can prevent most of the problems associated with male "puberty", increased aggression, scent marking, wanting nothing to do with humans because of a female in heat within a five mile radius.

It just depends. Corgie's or "low riders" are a wonderful breed. A great companion dog, a protector, loving, yet breed for its herding instinct, is loyal part of anyone's family. Any dog at 6 mos. is young. He is in his learning stage - testing you every moment. He is checking his boundaries and will soon know his place in your pack. You need to show him that you are the leader (Alpha Male) in the pack, but do it lovingly, without pain, but with a sturdy voice. Good luck.

What kind of characteristics are you looking for?? Humping of legs, chasing girl dogs, or fighting in the back alley? Let him be a puppy and grow up, he'll become a big boy when he is ready. If you are referring to cocking his leg when he pees, it'l come, maybe he isn't an alpha type and isn't too interested in making sure everyone knows he's there. He's a little boy, enjoy that and let him grow up.

Ohhh, this could be a sturdy one! "At my age I never theory i could..."> Be broke, unemployed, lacking a mate (my gorgeous spouse, who's been in rehab for months), with none animals to maintain me agency, going to the pawn save well-known to get $ to pay the costs, be disabled w/out reward. Augh! the record is going on. You asked, I responded. Sounds super would not it?

Well, you know, your puppy will go through puberty when he is ready to go through it. Each dog is an individual and not that predictible just as humans are in their development.
