Sorry for those "clean souls" out there for this question. Please dont put me again in a hot seat by your foul answers.
I jsut want to share about my feelings about the Bible circulating in our time. How can we know if the Bible is really a word of God or just creation of very intelligent people who wants power or people who thinks that there should be laws to be followed by human in the next generation.
If the Bible is made as it is, then my soul should be ready for the big entrance in hell. If it is, how can we be sure if it is not tampered, it is long that humans have power over it as material thing. Human is unpredictable, unclean in most part, has ability to alter everything even the most important Thing in the History.

I agree with you entirely. You really can't trust the Bible, just like you can't trust the government or King James.

I have a theory on what the Bible really is. Envision this: a cataclysmic disaster has swept the earth today, obliterating virtually all life. A few people survive, along with some of their worldly goods. These people could just be everyone's common anscectors from now on. Say the only book that survived is Harry Potter, because there are so many copies in print. If that was the only book that survived until the world recovered enough to avtually print books, it would be the only thing left to read. The point? Since Harry Potter would have existed so long, people would eventually believe it to be true, like an Urban Legend or tales about gods. Harry Potter would be a religion. 5,000 years later, we would have no way to prove/disprove its validity, its origin being so far in the past; also because we would become used to Harry Potter being the truth.

So what am I getting at? Perhaps the Bible was the Harry Potter of yesterday.

There's really no way to tell. It's up to you.

There are many translations of the Bible being used today. I have a parallel Bible myself that has the KJV alongside the New International Version. The NIV is easier to understand sometimes that the KJV. One of the neatest things about the Dead Sea Scrolls being found back in the 40's is that there were portions of the book of Isaiah that were just like what was in use today. There were people called scribes whose job it was to copy the Bible by hand. They were so meticulous that if they made a mistake, they had to start over. Great care was taken to not change or leave out anything. If the Bible was not God's Holy Word, it would have not made it through the years intact like it has. It would have glossed over the terrible things that man has done. You know, all of us "clean souls" are just sinners saved by God's grace. We realized through the conviction in our hearts by the Holy Spirit that we were sinners and we in faith asked God to forgive us and save our souls. It's because of God's word that we knew this. The Bible says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. I hope that you will read the Bible and see what happens. You can't read it without it affectiing you.

If one only reads the Bible in its entirety one should be able to see all of the inconsistencies and contradictions. Those who say that there are no contradictions in the bible are arguing from ignorance and a refusal to see logic and reason. The character of God in the Old testament especially, is a vile tyrant that kills men, women and children for very strange reasons. In my estimations from the numbers given in the Bible, Yahweh has murdered at least two million innocents. The Bible also has people walking on water and talking donkeys, if for no other reason than those, we should be skeptical of its claims of divine inspiration.

The Bible is rooted in ones faith. The events, stories and parables are meant to share Gods promise, provide a path to a meaningful life and allow us to one day enter the kingdom of heaven. If the bible has been tampered with in some way I have no way of knowing....but really, does it matter? The Bible is still doing what it was intended to do...bring people closer to God - to a loving and trusting relationship with the Father and his son, Jesus. My faith is strong and I continue to learn each time I read a passage or chapter. Have faith in God - He will lead you to greater understanding and peace.

I am not going to put you down for what you believe, but I will say this. All religions are about faith. I have faith that God exists and that the Bible is true. When I die, If I am right, I win (I go to heaven). You lose either way.
