My girlfriend is a bartender/assistant manager of a local bar in the State of Michigan. She has a new General Manager that is ordering all the bartenders to pour well liquors for patron that are not sitting directly at the bar even if they order a premium liquor, and still charge them for the premium price. Is this a violation of a MLCC law, or is it just moraly wrong. She has stated she is willing to quit than steal from her customers.

It is fraud and if it can be proven would violate civil laws against consumer fraud. Mich Attorney General would be the agency to investigate

Sorry don't know the relevant laws, however your gf needs to watch her cheques closely and find a new job. I worked in pubs for decades, and i never heard on any place doing that kind of stuff. I would be very worried about the honesty of the employers and staff are the first ppl to get ripped off by a crooked boss

It is an offence , just as if they ask for a brand and you substitute something else.

Its a common way of making an extra few dollars though.

The bartender may be personally liable if caught, and its not that hard to prove.
