Gas is best. double burner, temp. gauge, stainless beats cast. When you buy bottled smoke go natural, not artificial.( apple wood and hickory bottled by Colgin is my choice). My outside grill doesn't work to well in -25 c. or colder. Enjoy!!!

Even though charcoal is more authentic, the flavor of grilled food comes from the juices vaporizing as they come in contact with a very hot surface, so you can expect to get some great food from your new gas grill.

If space and portability are factors for you, we've gotten excellent results with our Weber Q grill. Also, for grilling instructions we use the cookout calculator at charcoalbob.com. Just enter the items you will be grilling and it will give printable instructions for how to grill steaks, chicken breasts, pork chops, etc. so that all items come off the grill at the same time, cooked to your desired doneness. You will also find grilling tips there.

Gas is good for convenience but not for flavor. Artificial smoke products taste fake and can be over-powering. There are grills available that use both charcoal or gas. I bought one about 3 years ago at Lowes for about $80. It can use gas or charcoal, smoke, steam, and be used as a cookstand for frying turkeys or whatever else you want to do. Here is a link to one such grill: http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Brinkmann%20810-5000-0%20All-in-one%20Grill%20-%20Black%20Gas%20Grill:2000791744;_ylc=X3oDMTB0b3VnYm1hBF9TAzk2NjMyOTA3BHNlYwNmZWVkBHNsawNiZ3Qy
