Ask her to marry you anyway!
Believe it or not, she will not care that you don't have a ring immediately. In fact, she may like to be able to help you pick one out once you can afford it.
Once she accepts (hopefully!), tell her you cannot afford a ring right now, but are saving up to get her the perfect ring! She will melt in your arms!
Guys tend to think its the size that counts, it's not. In fact, manhy people these days are going towards other gemstones; but you must be sure she would want that; some women would want a diamond and nothing else.

I would say NOT to get her a promise ring. Some women see it as an avoidance of marriage. They see it as he's just putting off marrying me...

She would much rather getting a proposal, than a piece of jewerly and no proposal!!!

You don't have to walk into a really posh store and spend two months salary on a ring...and even if you do, they will bargain with you:
My mother-in-law walked into the first jewelry store in our mall (small city) and asked "how much". They said $700. In the next store there was the same ring...she told them the other store's price and asked if they could do better. They quoted $500. The next store: same ring. Price: $400. Back to the first store. They came down to $350 for a ring that was originally $700.
My husband bought my ring at a pawn shop. I don't know how much he paid for it but I love it! He took it, had it sized, had it cleaned and that was it. And I know that it didn't cost no $700! You can also check ebay, or in Bargain Finders for people who are selling their used rings. Some people divorce, some upgrade. Take a look around....just because it's inexpensive doesn't mean that it's crap.

Get her a promise ring. It's an "engaged to be engaged" ring. Good luck.

in line with possibility you ought to get her a recent certificates for a nail submitting or pedicure if she's into that form of element. How bout make her a basket with stuff she likes in it (attempt the dollar keep for baskets, candles, knick knacks and such) you ought to place 3 tiny airplane bottles of a few liquor in it. Take her out to dinner. you are able to in no way bypass incorrect with present certificates so she will purchase her very own cd's, movies, outfits, etc. Or while you're desperate, chilly stressful funds and a card works everytime (in spite of the reality that impersonal, and an uncomplicated way out) hey, even a gas card! circumstances are difficult for a 21 year previous. How bout an decrease priced indoor waterfall?

Take her shopping on her b-day @ a ring place and pick one out together...do a lay-a-way plan putting small payments here and there down the road. This way you get to propose, she gets to help choose the ring, win/win.
