This is an honor reserved for those killed in the line of duty. It is a long honored tradition of the military and law enforcement.

I never heard of this. Do they get buried with the casket, or do they put them back on? I would guess that they are sending a little of themself with the deceased. It sounds very emotional. I'm going to assume it was a full military honor funeral.

I have never seen this done and I have been to many military services.....
As an ex marine I would say that this was a sign of respect.....But i've never seen it . The best answer is Respect ......But becouse of the precision of military funerals this seems odd.........Maybe the gloves belonged to the fallen comrade....

white is the color of purity and of innocence, the last hands to touch the casket. its a great honor, though sad, to send someone to the afterlife, and the Marines are all about honor, the military graveside service is the most emotional one i have ever seen.

"BROTHERS" forever and a small part of the survivors STAY with the "FALLEN" forever. Their "HANDs" will be with him/her forever.
