If I were to pick one spot that everyone should see, I guess I'd go with the Great Ocean Road. It's not the best spot, in my opinion, or my favorite, but it offers some great tourist views, some really nice small ozzie towns to stop off in, and you pass Bell's Beach which is one of the best known surf breaks in the world. And there's a golf course in Angelsea where you can watch kangaroos feed in the evening. All in all, it's an easy tourist trip from Melbourne, and gives packs a good amount of the better things about OZ into it: surfing, amazing coastal drive, nice towns to pass through, kangaroos up close (bouncing deer), and the chance to take photos that nearly everyone whose been to OZ has already taken.
Of course, my among my favorite places include Hobart, Tasmania and the Town of 1770. But I'm not sure that they're for everyone.

Too many places to name.
My favourite holiday area is North Queensland.
Places of interest include The Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest, the islands off the coast and much more.
The Sunshine Coast in Queensland is also a holiday favourite, but there's plenty of other places all over the country that may interest you.

I think it would be Observatory Hill, in the Rocks Area. It gives a fantastic view of south and western sydney, and also a great view of the harbour bridge. Fantastic at sunset and also a great place for picnic etc. Also you get to visit the observatory as well.

there are lots of great places to visit in Austrlaia,
if you prefer a fun yet relaxing holiday i recommend Queensland.
if you like the outgoing action holiday than i would visit the northen terriotry.
if you like a city rush then Sydney or Melborne is for you.
If you like the quiet country style, Jinderbyne.
If you want some mountian action, Thredbo is great in summer for hiking or bush walks, in winter of course its the best for skiing.
Of course there are many more great locations for travel in Australia it just depends what your into.

i am from melbourne but if you were only choosing one place then i would recommend sydney harbour bridge/sydney opera house. You can crusie the harbour, climb the bridge and have dinner at the rocks - whilst looking at the beautiful view!
