Im trying to buy this truck but the guy has lost the titile. I ran a Car fax and the title is good. Is there a search I can do online to check to make sure there isn't any liens against the truck?

I wouldn't buy it until he can give you the title. How do you know it wasn't stolen, he isn't the real owner of the vehicle or that it doesn't have a salvage title. It is his responsibility to get a title. Tell him that you want to buy it as soon as he receives the title. Don't buy it until then.

There is no where that I know of that you can search online for a lienholder.

You can contact the DMV records division, they can give you all the info you need to make a good decision. They will have lien info, if the car has been totalled before, etc. Anything CarFax has, you can get for free from your licensing office.

You could try Carfax. Really it's his responsibility to get a duplicate title, because there will be a fee for that too, and it's up to him to prove to you he owns the vehicle in the first place.
