I would recommend that your first step be learning about the homeschooling laws in your state. The Home School Legal Defense Association website is a good place to begin:

http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?State=MO

(Be sure to read the Legal Analysis page for more details on what's required.)

Once you know the legal requirements, you can look for curriculum and resources. One place to look is http://www.rainbowresource.com (enter "high school" in the keyword search box). Keep in mind, too, that your library can be a great resource, as well as a great way to save money on books! Some libraries even have textbooks that you can see before you shell out the money to purchase them.

I live in MO. You should check out HSLDA as previously stated, however the laws for our state are very beneficial for homeschoolers. You should send a letter of intent to your school, but you do not have to actually. They just need to be informed that you are being removed from school so there are no truancy issues.

If you are near the Springfield area, the Library Center has a New Homeschoolers Meeting the 2nd Thursday of each month, which is today. It is from 630-830 pm. The larger cities have co-ops and other homeschool groups available as well.

There is no waiting period. Your mother will have to keep track of your work and you the hours you work in case the state decides to audit your progress. This information will be on the HSLDA website.

Good luck!

This is the information for your state-wide organization:
Families for Home Education
PO Box 742
Grandview MO 64030
816-767-9825
1983@fhe-mo.org
www.fhe-mo.org
I would say to give them a call. They should be able to answer all the questions you have about homeschooling in your state. Also, like everyone else has said before. Talk to the Home School Legal Defence Assn. (HSLDA) They will probably give you the same thing I did, but they might be able to help your parents be informed about the legalities in your state. Hope this helps!!

I would recommend going through the American School of Correspondence. They are accredited. They will provide you with all of the information you need to homeschool in Missouri.
There is a basic high school course and a college preporatory course.
www.americanschoolofcorr.com
Also, www.hlsda.com provides information on homeschooling for each state.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at thawk5il@yahoo.com.
