Try using a spray designed for dogs on your ankles. something like Bitter Apple, Fooey or even plain old Listerine. When your puppy starts getting excited about chasing ankles, stop moving.

Redirect your puppy to something he likes to chew better than you. Teach him a "leave it" command. Here is some info on teaching "Leave it" .

Leave it works much better than just saying "NO" all of the time. We overuse "No" so much it becomes meaningless to the dog.

Here is a webpage with a free Puppy Book to Download. It was written by one of the top dog behaviorists in the country. Dr. Ian Dunbar participated in the first study of domestic dog behavior. He is a brilliant man and an expert on all phases of dog behavior.

Puppies need training, keep a rawhides or chewy toys handy around house and when puppy goes for your ankle push her away, say NO (be aggressive) and give puppy toy to chew on.
Also, what about a spray bottle of water and mist puppy for discipline.

It doesn't mean anything, it's just a puppy thing. I see it with puppies and adult dogs.. It's like the puppy thing to do. Mom turns around and knocks the puppy over, but what you should do is stop, bend down and lightly take the scruff of his neck and in a deep and serious voice, tell him NO. Don't let others encourage it by playing chase games, or giggling and yanking their legs away from him, it's just going to encourage the behaviour. You want to stop it now before it starts transferring tho to new things later. Once a dog or puppy thinks something is fun or funny, it can become quite the game for them and harder and harder to stop. Best to stop it now while he is young.

The "NO bottle" works well around our house. It's normal play for a puppy, but they have to learn that it hurts humans and isn't allowed. Distract him with a toy.

Say "no" Agressively, yet calmly. Then take its cheeks and hold in between the cheeks. It will bite its own cheeks and will learn that biting hurts a little.

hope that helps
