He didn't want your friend to feel bad. So that means he didn't care that you felt bad.
Does your friend know that he picked her over you and that you are still considering going out with the jerk.
Sounds like your friend is the one with the problem.
You need to do them both a favor. Look for a new friend that isn't in competition with poor little insecure you. Look for a new guy that can handle being fixated on you being the center of the universe.

The answer simply is yes. Unfortunately he was bound to hurt your friends feelings somewhere along the road and using that as an excuse isn't really good enough. When he chose your friend over you he would have also hurt your feelings so where is the compassion? Did he cause you and your friend to no longer be friends? Answer these questions and be true to yourself because in the end no matter what anyone here writes you're the one who will have to make the decision

If he picked your friend than why would he date you..
like even if he really likes you,
if he picked your friend.. than he picked your friend.
He obviously doesn't want her to feel bad
so he wouldn't date you.

But, I don't think it's wrong because friends should never get in the way of you and a guy they should just accept it (plenty of fish in the sea) like common.. it's retarded for little chickypoos to be all omg i'm going to die if I lose this guy. I'm sure your friend will get over it. So don't worry about it.

Theres an unspoken rule with girlfriends when they go after the same guy. In a way I would tell you no, but you must must must talk to your friend first and get her side, better to lose the guy than your best friend. Just keep in mind, some guys are temporary, friends are forever.

If he's going out with your friend then no, think about how she'd ask but if I was that guy I'd make the choice and keep it. How do you know that's why he chose your friend?

well i think thats alll on how you look at it yourself. I myself dont go out with my friends ex cuz then i know if my friend still likes him in some way or she gets jelouse over how much time we spend together it could end up breaking our friendship. So i guess i would say yea it could be bad if you dont want to harm your friendship.

Basing a relationship on his pity for her is not a great start. If you go after him, I'm sure you realise your friend may not talk to you ever again? What's more important to you? A guy or your friend?

Sure, get your guy back. Your friend might not like it, but you probably did not like it when he picked her. Friend or no friend, if he likes you, then go for it.
