Well it depends. Spanish is the most useful and will take you far in terms of the way the US is developing. It is good to have if you want to go into the social services like social work or teaching.

French is good as well. A lot of high level vocabulary in English has latinate roots through French and so French will help develop your vocabulary.

On the flip side first year German will be the easiet of the three because beginning German and English are very similiar. However, it gets much harder in the second and third year.

Just from the demographics (the way our ethnic composition changes through the years), the chances are better that you would use Spanish in the future rather than French and German. There are few French and Germans immigrating to the US, compared to the millions of people (legal and illegal) coming into the country from Spanish-speaking countries. )

As of the 2000 US census, about 8.4% of the population of Connecticut (more than a quarter million people) are Spanish-speaking. And that is sure to increase even more by the time you graduate from college and veterinary school.

Good luck.

spanish would be the most useful as it's becomming a more and more widespread language in the u.s. but, german is much easier for an english speaker to learn because it has a lot of similarities to the english language. french is probably the hardest of the three to learn because it has very different sounds than english. so, depending on what you are trying to gain with your language learning, choose accordingly.

It's either French or Spanish.
I personally like French better because it sounds much more elegant and beautiful. Instead of picking the language because of your future job, just pick a language you like becuase it will be so much easier for you to learn and love the language.
Good luck!

I think Spanish is the only foreign language of any value taught in america. Spanish is the only language you'll have a chance to use unless you plan on leaving the country often. It just doesn't make any sense to take french and german when you'll only be able to use French in Quebec........and you'll only be able to use German in a beer tent at Oktoberfest!! lol

Here is my opinion

Take SPANISH if you plan on majoring in the social sciences, politics, international relations, and education. It will be helpful if you plan on traveling extensively throughout Latin America and will be helpful in learning and speaking Portuguese if you want to learn that language. ESL teachers are highly recruited throughout the USA.

Take FRENCH if you see yourself learning music, art, or international relations (specifically West Africa and Europe).

Take GERMAN if you plan on learning music (classical or opera). It is also helpful in doing business throughout central Europe but won't get you far.

Well as for most helpful, you live in America.. so I guess that would be spanish seeing as all of those illegal immegrants are coming in.
As for easiest , I would say French. There are so many similar words its crazy. Its even the same alphabet.

depends what you like. If you want to learn a lauguage which most find pleasent go for french.. or if that's full spanish.. Unless you really don't care what people think, you want to be an individual and want to learn a cool strange sounding language then go for german... i think i'd pick german.. ibut that's only my oppinon.. :)
